The first step is an informal consultation to get to know one another and determine if coaching will support your needs. We can also determine if there is a good connection for a coaching relationship. For you to benefit from coaching, we want to ensure there is a positive rapport such that we can build a partnership for your success. I encourage you to carefully consider with whom you choose to partner, the training, qualifications, and importantly the personal connection with your future coach.
If you decide to pursue coaching, our informal discussion will lead to an explanation of the client welcome package. This package will include a:
* coach-client agreement (which outlines the client's confidentiality)
* focus analysis to determine which areas you would like to progress
* brief survey so that I better understand your communication style.
Our first coaching session will briefly review the focus analysis which may help you determine the topic(s) on which you want to work. Your recommendations will always be honoured. The first session can be an hour or two, depending on your preference. You can count on me to ask challenging questions that will support your growth as well as make empowering requests that will prompt you to immediately embark on your achievement plan.
Coaching takes place within the context of a focused interactive dialogue between the coach and client. By actively listening to your goals, actions, thoughts, and emotions, we will focus on your desired outcome and design plans for your growth, learning, and action that direct you towards your goals and intentions. By understanding and clarifying your goals, removing limiting beliefs, and creating rewarding alternatives, you will be empowered to create habits that support your goals, and to lead the life you desire.
Coaching is also flexibile with respect to the session location. Sessions can take place in my office, on the phone, or over the Internet. Once we have determined a postive client-coach fit, it is not necessary for coaches and their clients to meet face-to-face for sessions the to be effective and powerful.
Also consider the time invested for the coaching relationship. Typically, 12 sessions is an ideal duration to lay the foundation for lasting change. Certainly, you will find value in each session, and establishing a longer term partnership will be key in creating long term changes for success.
